Why is “Somali Scott” Brannon allowed to steal from the Walton County taxpayers without any consequence?
On December 19, 2025, I submitted a public records request (PRR 25-845) seeking information about the Director of Governmental Coordination. The requested information sought to quantify how much work “Somali Scott” has produced on behalf of the Walton County taxpayers in an effort to determine whether he is actually providing value.
Everyone knows that Brannon is a ghost around the government center and yet nobody has ever done anything about it.
In a previous post, we learned that Somali Scott rarely shows up for work at any county office by getting the data to his keycard/badge access logs. Brannon only showed up to work before 9AM on just 16 days in the past year and there were only 66 days in which he badged in to a county building two or more times in the same day. Some have questioned whether Brannon is allowed to work from home and we have learned that that is not the case, as I have requested information about where his physical workstation is located.
Fewer Than 30 Emails – How is This Possible?
In my request, I asked for a log of every email Brannon has sent going back to July 1, 2023.
The data provided is shocking on several fronts.
There are only 29 emails sent by Brannon to someone other than himself over the span of nearly 2.5 years. He is sending less than an email per month. That’s incredible!
The data shows that there were only 21 days in which Brannon sent (or forwarded) an email to someone.
The earliest record of an email is October 14, 2024. How is it possible that Brannon did not send one email from July 1, 2023 thru October 13, 2024?
I have also sorted the “subject lines” for every email by alphabetical order. When you peruse the list, it is clear that Brannon has not performed any work of any substance nor has he provided any routine or periodic updates to the county administrator or the commissioners. In fact, I am hard pressed to find one update of any substance regarding any state legislation.
You would think that at least one email somewhere would mention a bill in the state legislature in the title. But there is nothing. How can you “coordinate” anything if you are not communicating with anyone in the state legislature or other local government agencies in the region?
How is it that a guy who rarely shows up for work and seemingly never does anything of any substance when he is there is allowed to collect a paycheck and mooch off the Walton County taxpayers?
Seemingly, nobody cares.
What else is one to take away from the last BCC meeting when Scott Brannon addressed the governing body and literally asked the elected officials to tell him what bills they wanted him to study and report back on?
Neither the county administrator nor any of the elected officials bothered to hold “Somali Scott” accountable by asking him about his pathetic attendance record and lack of any meaningful work product.
Just remember that when it comes to Walton County that government operations are effectively a welfare program for the Good Ol’ Boys in some form or fashion.
